For musician Lisa Zelazny, songwriting is as natural as breathing. Although her roots are in a rural, farming village in Western New York, she brings a global perspective and international vibe to her music. In the mid-1990s she transplanted herself to Stockholm, Sweden, and became immersed in its culture and language. It was here where her songwriting career began. It was a prolific period of writing for Zelazny and after producing several demos she returned to the states and collaborated with some of Western New York’s finest musicians. Her unique style caught the ear of music journalist and critic Jeff Miers who wrote: “Zelazny’s songs have a dark, subterranean heart; although their pop as pop can be choruses are infectious, a somber subtext pervades, and lends an air of melancholy beauty...” Her sound evolved over the years and in 2023, she released “For That Was Then and This Is Now.” In 2026, drawing inspiration from her years abroad, she released “Those Days in Stockholm” that highlights not only her musically formative years but also takes her style to new artistic heights blending elements of country, rock, bossa nova, jazz, and blues. The common threads throughout are her rich vocals and lyrics of authentic and emotional purity. Zelazny performs regularly throughout Western New York and beyond where her live performances showcase her haunting and signature blend of poetic lyrics, reflective storytelling, and eclectic musical style.
